Give yourself every opportunity to see the northern lights
Brändön Lodge is located just north of Luleå overlooking the Bothnian archipelago. With a total of approximately 1,250 islands and only 100 residents, the archipelago is a unique wilderness environment. In winter, the sea around the island freezes up to a meter thick and becomes a playground for activities such as snowmobiling, dogsledding and may others.
Day One – Arrival day, Northern lights Sled tour
Your flight from Stockholm to Luleå takes only one hour where we will be waiting to meet you. The first afternoon is well spent getting to know us, selecting your warm winter clothing and relaxing. A delicious 2-course dinner awaits you in the restaurant in the evening, and after, dinner we head out for a snowmobile sled ride to get the chance to see the Aurora dancing in the sky. We stop on a nearby Island where we start a fire and sit around the fire enjoying a steaming cup of hot chocolate. We tell stories and listen to the complete silence under the stars.
Day Two – Snowmobile tour, Aurora Hideaway Dinner
Waking to a new day by the sea, and after enjoying breakfast, we will prepare for our 2-hour nature adventure on a snowmobile. We use a snowmobile to explore the frozen sea and islands of the archipelago. Out on the islands, we will search for Wildlife in the Beautiful scenery. Lunch is included in your package back at the Lodge after this morning´s adventure.
This evening it is time for one of the highlights at the Lodge – Aurora Hideaway Dinner. A candlelight dinner, out on the frozen Arctic sea in a cosy dinner cabin. The Aurora Hideaways are small “restaurants” that we move around in the archipelago with our snow cat. We choose the best places possible depending on wind, weather and ice conditions for each evening’s event. The experience starts with a snowmobile sled transfer from the Lodge. On arrival at the Aurora Hideaway, you will be introduced and offered a drink from a lovely selection. The stove in the Aurora Hideaway has a sparkling fire roaring, and the candles and tealights create a magical atmosphere. You now have a chance to go outside to look for the Northern Lights or enjoy the absolute silence and the stars in the sky. The guide prepares the first two courses over the outdoor fire. A relaxed evening is finished off with dessert and tea/coffee before returning to your Lodge.
Day Three – Free day for optional Activities, Northern Lights snowshoe walk with dinner
After breakfast, it is a perfect time for a walk around the lodge. Say hi to the reindeer in the corral behind the cabins and walk along snowmobile tracks out over the frozen sea. Lunch is served in the restaurant. This evening, after your dinner in the restaurant, we strap on snowshoes and head out for a walk into the forest up to a nearby spot, where we have a perfect view over the sea. Here we make a fire and dinner under the stars and take in the Arctic atmosphere sitting on reindeer hides.
Day Four
Depending on your time of departure, you will have part of this morning to relax and enjoy the lodge before we unfortunately bid you a fond farewell. Your transfer will be arranged at a suitable time to take you to the airport or train station for your journey home.
